Four Framed Japanese Woodblock Prints.

Color woodblock prints on paper, each framed.

Including a print by Toyohara Kunichika (1835–1900) depicting a bijin figure rendered with elongated facial features and a softly modeled expression, characteristic of his late Edo to Meiji-period style; a print in the manner of Suzuki Harunobu illustrating women engaged in domestic and agricultural activity with a child; a print attributed to Katsukawa Shunchō depicting a sericulture scene, reflecting themes of women's labor and virtue; and a landscape print depicting a torii gate standing in water with distant shoreline and village under pine trees. Together, the group reflects the breadth of Japanese woodblock production, moving between theatrical elegance, feminine beauty, scenes of everyday labor, and poetic landscape, and revealing how ukiyo-e could encompass both urban popular culture and idealized visions of social life and nature.

{Approximate dimensions: Largest H 14 inches x W 6 3/8 inches (35.6 x 16.2 cm); others various}
