Flemish Biblical Tapestry, wool with natural dyes, the subject a verdant, wooded scene centering milkmaids near cows, with merchants to the side, within a shaped border, the whole mounted onto a faun cotton lining. First third, 18th Century.

The original edges of the tapestry are folded over into the backing, making the whole appear shorter and narrower than it actually is and truncating the border design. Wear consistent with age and use, including losses, repairs, loose and irregular weave, fading. Slightly asymmetrical edges, primarily along righthand side.
