Fine Russian Feodor Ruckert Shaded Cloisonne Enamel Presentation Cup, of gilt silver, of lobed form on long foot, with inverted squat globular base, the domed cover with double headed eagle knop. Gilt washed to interiors, the exterior walls with elaborate enamel cartouches of birds, figures, arabesques, scrolling foliage, phoenixes, etc. Rim of cover engraved with presentation inscription, "PRESENTED TO WILLIAM GRISCOM COXE BY H.I.M. NICHOLAS III CZAR OF RUSSIA 1903." Marked to interior of cover: Cyrillic monogram of Feodor Rückert, double headed eagle. Marked to bowl: Cyrillic monogram of Feodor Rückert , to opposite side of bowl oval stamp, Kokoshnik mark for Ivan Sergeyevich Lebedkin (1898 -1914), to small knop, impressed duty mark, and impressed with two marks to base.
Feodor Ivanovich Ruckert (umlaut over the u), (B. Alsace-Lorraine, France, 1840 - D. Moscow, Russia, 1917). His birth name was Friedrich Mauritz Rückert, which he Russified on emigrating to the country in 1855.

Very good condition, silver surfaces tarnished, minimal evident solder, some showing as gilt. To one lobe with oval with Peter and Eagle, dirt build up to far right side= also, same to far right and far left side centers, Tarnish to areas. Due toplacement of two marks to bottom gilt band, the marks are difficult to read.

Descended through the family of William Griscom Coxe, a shipbuilder (1868 - 1927), to whom the cup was presented. During the Russo-Japanese War, Coxe delivered to the Czar ships from the fleet of William Cramp & Sons Shipbuilding Company of Philadelphia. After 1910, Coxe moved from the East to the West Coast.
