English South Salopian Yeomanry Cavalry Trooper Helmet, of polished nickel plate, the fitted Carabiniers dragoon helmet for enlisted ranks, the large crest  under the crown denoting the regimental name of the South Salopian Yeomanry, Cavalry section, the leather lined chain to chin attached with bossed rosettes. Red horsehair plumes.

The Shropshire Yeomanry Cavalry Unit was made up of volunteers from the 1790's French Revolutionary Wars. The unit from South Salop formed in 1828, when the Shropshire and Shrewsbury merged. 

Signs of wear include helmet with shallow dents and dings throughout the bowl, several shallow grooves, scratches, small nicks to edges, patina, residue, interior with pitting, loss to hardware, cut to leather band, minor losses to plumes.
