Empire Style Gilt and Patinated Bronze Figural Clock La Laitiere, The Milkmaid, the cylindrical clock inset into the case, designed as a woman in classical dress,with legs in the gilt bronze basket style, riding side saddle on the patinated horse body, the maid with reins in one hand, and whip in the other, with milk jug in saddle between the two on a rectangular base on four rouletted squat feet, the tablet to front inset with appliques of milk maids to either side of a cow. The clock face engraved in black on white enamel with Roman numeral chapters and Arabic numbers for the quarter-hour positions, script "Ratisseau à Orleans," for the retailer Ratisseau Brothers, to lower face. The mechanism with silk thread and escapement wheel, and pendulum. Includes key and pendulum.

Very good condition, the base with surface wear and scratches. The clock keeps time, and chimes. Minor surface wear, patination, dust and dirt throughout.
