Dodgson, Alice in Wonderland, Through the Looking Glass. Two classic novels by Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, (English, 1832 - 1898) who chose Lewis Carroll as his pseudonym.
Full titles: Alice's Adventures in Wonderland [and:] Through the Looking Glass, and what Alice found there. London: MacMillan, 1866 & 1872. Two volumes. Both in the original publisher's red cloth stamped and lettered in gilt, all edges gilt, both with the "Bound by Burn" label to the rear pastedown. Both in one brown linen case.
The first issue of the first book form published edition of Alice included the following typos: the "s" is inverted in the last line of the contents leaf; and page 30 is incorrectly numbered 3. There are also typos in the Through the Looking Glass first edition, with "wade" for "wabe" on page 21 and pages 95 and 98 unnumbered. Feet of both spines printed in gold "Macmillan" not "Macmillan & Co."

Case worn, tired, paper patch, possibly a label, to underside. Both volumes with splotchy covers, and beginning to fray, and Alice with restoration to the spine. Pen inscription E. Holland and dated 1872, to title page of Through the Looking glass, it, and the endpaper with some minor foxing. Texts with some stains, spots, tissue guards toned, marginal toning and stray stains.
