Chinese Pale Blue-Glazed Teapot

The teapot of compressed globular form, rising to a short cylindrical neck and fitted with a domed cover, the shoulder set with a curved handle opposite a gently tapering spout. The exterior is covered in a pale blue celadon-type glaze of soft, even tone, subtly pooling in the recessed areas to accentuate the molded decoration. Delicate scrolling floral motifs encircle the body, lending a sense of quiet movement beneath the translucent glaze. The harmonious proportions and restrained ornamentation reflect a refined aesthetic associated with later interpretations of classical monochrome-glazed wares.
