Chinese Lapis Lazuli and Malachite Carvings on Wood Bases.
Comprising two carvings of mythical creatures in lapis lazuli and one carving of a horse in malachite, each rendered in rounded, sculptural form and raised on fitted wood stands, the lapis examples depicting recumbent dragon-like beasts with stylized features and pierced detailing, the deep blue stone accented with natural veining, while the malachite horse shown in a resting pose, its surface displaying characteristic banded green patterns. The carvings emphasize the natural beauty of the materials, with polished surfaces enhancing color and texture, and the simplified forms reflecting a decorative interpretation of traditional auspicious subjects.
