Chinese Han Black Pottery Cocoon Jar. The rounded oblong body supported on a short pedestal foot, surmounted by a waisted neck rising to an everted rim, the exterior painted with ripples of triple lines on a black ground. {9 1/2 high x 10 1/2 wide x 6 1/2 inches deep (24 x 27 x 16 1/2 cm)}. Provenance: Austin Hills. Condition: Chips at the base, surface wear. Ask the Asian Art Department for more information.
