Chinese Export Red Lacquer and Gilt Six-Panel Screen.

The six-panel folding screen decorated on one side with a continuous landscape scene rendered in gilt against a red lacquer ground, depicting mountains, pavilions, bridges, trees, and boats along a river arranged across the panels to form a panoramic composition with finely detailed execution and dense ornamentation. The reverse is finished in a dark lacquer ground with a more simplified landscape in gilt, featuring mountains, trees, and water rendered in a looser and more restrained manner within rectangular borders, creating a contrast between the more elaborate front and the more understated reverse. Each panel is joined with metal hinges, allowing the screen to fold.
