Chinese Export Lacquered Wood Chess Board. Rectangular folding chess board constructed of lacquered wood, the hinged halves opening to reveal a checkered playing surface. The board decorated in black and gilt with alternating squares, each gilt square centered with a stylized floral motif, framed by a continuous gilt border with scrolling ornament. The exterior surfaces lacquered in black and embellished with gilt decoration, including linear motifs and central geometric emblems. Metal hinges secure the two panels, allowing the board to close flat for storage. {Approximate dimensions: 19 5/8 x 19 5/8 x height 1 1/2 inches}
