Chinese Bronze Four-Footed Lidded Censer with Phoenix Motifs.
Chinese cast bronze censer of compressed globular form raised on four feet, the body cast in relief with circular panels depicting phoenix birds amid scrolling cloud motifs. The domed cover surmounted by a ring-chain finial composed of interlinked loops, the cover similarly decorated with phoenix and cloud motifs. Ring handles suspended from animal-mask mounts at the shoulders. The surface with mottled brown and green patina throughout. {Approximate dimensions: 11 x 12 1/4 inches}

Surface corrosion and verdigris throughout; areas of pitting and wear consistent with age and outdoor exposure. The rim of the cover slightly uneven; minor casting imperfections and surface abrasions present.
