Bio: Charles Monroe Schulz, nicknamed "Sparky" by his family, was an American cartoonist best known for creating the iconic comic strip Peanuts. The characters and themes in Peanuts were deeply influenced by Schulz’s own childhood insecurities and personal struggles, which he transformed into the relatable and enduring material for his work. Schulz began his art education through a correspondence course in cartooning and served in the Army during World War II. After returning from Europe, he worked for the Art Instruction Schools and became a letterer for Topix, a religious comic book. Schulz’s early career was marked by numerous rejection slips until he successfully sold a cartoon to The Saturday Evening Post in 1948. Following Schulz's passing in 2000, the Charles M. Schulz Museum opened to the public in 2002. The museum offers visitors the opportunity to view many of his iconic comic panels, explore his life story, and learn about his creative process and collaborations.
