British Cavalry Officer's Dragoon Helmet, the polished chromium metal and brass shell with tall finial fitted with a black horsehair plume, the helmet bade with crown over rayed band, surrounded a belt, "YORKSHIRE DRAGOONS Y.C." centering a stylezed white rose of York, and with leather lined chin chain fastened to the sides with large rosette bosses. A band of shell and beaded decoration in gilt metal descending from the crown to the base of the neck guard.
A section of the front torn and repaired with solder, visible, about 1 1/2" long, the plume holder off and resoldered into place, visible. Doubled sets of tiny pin holes to back of helmet, possible to hold in place a decoration now absent or moved. Polish residue, surface wear, scratches, tarnish, and patination, dust to leather parts and helmet itself. Loss to horsehairs.
