Kruger is an American conceptual artist who became widely recognized in the 1970s and 80s for works that resemble advertisements but subvert their messages. "I Shop Therefore I Am" is a play on the statement from Descartes' "Discourse on the Method", replacing 'think' with 'shop' , to critique consumer culture and the way identity can become tied to buying, brands, and possessions.
Condition
Paper shopping bag shows folds and creases, possibly paper toned. Framed: 21 5/8" H x 15" W.
