Condition: Surface dust and dirt, minor paint loss upper left corner, paint loss left center, on man's hand, and some on other areas of painting; visible inpaint especially under UV light, varnished aged. Dirt pockets and keys verso.

Provenance: Warren Kopp and Paul Hardman were interior designers who owned an antique shop and interior decorating studio in the 1950s and 1960s. In 1957, they bought the Talbot-Dutton House, now landmarked, where they set up an apartment as an homage to great French style.
