Attributed to Joseph Mallord William Turner (British, 1775-1851), Landscape with Island Fortress, oil on canvas, [approximate dimensions - canvas: 8" H x 6" W], unsigned; "Windsor and Newton London W" stamped on canvas and inscription of artist name on stretcher bar at verso. Notes: This lot includes a previous appraisal.
Condition
Overall surface dirt and grime, possibly mold upper right corner, craquelure throughout, abrasions in center mountain with loss measuring approximate 1" long, evidence of previous restoration and inpaint under UV light. At verso, previous puncture repair, incomplete keys, and dirt pockets. Frame has wear, framed: 8" H x 10 1/8" W. Ask Fine Art Department for additional photos.
