Antiphonary Christmas Mass, Gregorian Notation, Paper, Handwritten.  Spain, 17th/18th Century. Comprising the handwritten Latin text and musical score of the chanted Christmas Mass, bound in leather with brass clasps and button cover embellishments, with multiple attached brown ribbon page markers. Most text and notes is in black ink and the four-line staffs and some text and notes are in red ink.  

{Approximate dimensions with metal clasps and embellishments:  3 5/8" high x 20 1/8" long x 14 13/16" wide.}.

Condition

Exterior wear reflective of age and use. Leather binding with tears, losses, scuffs, scratches, craquelure, peeling, rubbing. Clasps with tears to leather at insertion sites, metal parts with wear, patina. Leaves in good condition overall, considering age; wear includes minor losses to some page edges and corners, small folds, staining, most notable at interior seams, foxing, minor bleeding. Several back pages with partial losses and repairs, a few pages with later notations added. Several likely blank pages appear to be missing from the very back and front of the volume. Please contact the Furniture and Decorative Arts Department for a detailed condition report on this lot.
