American School (19th Century), Primitive Portrait of Woman, oil on lined canvas. Unsigned. The woman is seated on a red upholstered chair. She is dressed in a dark textured dress with a white lace cap, collar, and sleeves. She holds a white lace handkerchief and is accessorized with a gilt and red brooch along with a pair of matching gilt bracelets and rings that have colored stones. [Approximate dimensions - sight: 11 1/4" H x 8 3/4" W].

Canvas is lined. Craquleure throughout the painting including stress cracking. Under UV/black light, visible inpainting at the lower area of the painting and the upper right. There are tiny areas along the side with inpainting. At verso, sealed with wax and minor dirt pockets. Framed: 14 1/2" H x 12" W. Ask Fine Art Department for additional photos.
