This color lithograph is from Les Maitres de l'Affiche (Masters of the Poster)- reduced lithographic versions, in authentic colors, of the best posters of Europe and America, by more than 90 great artists- and published by Imprimerie Chaix under the direction of master lithographer Jules Cheret (1836-1932) in Paris between 1896 and 1900. The prints were published as a monthly subscription and included other celebrated artists of the time, including Steinlen, Toulouse-Lautrec, and Bonnard, among others. Notes: This lot includes a Certificate of Authenticity and invoice from Christopher-Clark Fine Art.
Overall very good condition. Strong colors. In the plate margins: two dark spots along the right- one near lower right, the other upper right; one above the M in 'Meuse'; a faint spot on the left near the girl's shoulder and a faint one at the bottom under 'Paris'; there is one speck or accretion in the lower middle area below the plate and at the top, a light red mark from under the matting crossing the sheet onto the edge of the plate above 'de'. Not examined out of the frame. Ask the Fine Arts Department for additional photos.
