Qing Dynasty
The present group comprises four porcelain wares dating to the Qing dynasty, illustrating the remarkable diversity of Jingdezhen porcelain production from the eighteenth to the late nineteenth century. Including a brown-glazed dish of the Qianlong period, a Guangxu blue and white dragon charger, a blue and white landscape basin, and a delicately potted pale celadon-glazed vase, the group reflects both the technical refinement and decorative richness that characterize Qing porcelain.
The earliest piece is the brown-glazed dish dating to the Qianlong period (1736–1795). Covered inside and out with a warm mottled brown glaze, the dish exemplifies the Qing appreciation for elegant monochrome wares. Rather than relying upon painted decoration, the vessel derives its beauty from the subtle variations of the glaze, whose softly speckled surface and restrained coloration reflect the refined aesthetic cultivated by the imperial kilns during the eighteenth century. Monochrome-glazed porcelains occupied an important position in Qing ceramic production, demonstrating the technical mastery required to achieve consistent glaze effects over finely potted porcelain bodies.
The large blue and white charger dates to the Guangxu period (1875–1908) and is boldly decorated with a five-clawed dragon striding vigorously among scrolling clouds in pursuit of a flaming pearl. Executed in deep cobalt blue beneath a transparent glaze, the dragon dominates the broad interior with remarkable energy and movement, embodying the traditional symbolism of imperial authority, strength, and auspicious power. Dragon chargers of this type remain among the most recognizable decorative porcelains of the late Qing dynasty.
Also included is a large blue and white basin painted with a tranquil river landscape enclosed by a floral border. Mountains, rivers, trees, and distant architecture are rendered in soft washes of cobalt, translating the literati tradition of Chinese landscape painting into porcelain decoration. The composition balances pictorial elegance with practical function, illustrating the enduring popularity of landscape imagery in Qing domestic wares.
Standing before the charger is a finely potted pale celadon-glazed vase of elegant proportions. Exceptionally thinly potted, the vase is covered with a soft bluish-white glaze and subtly decorated with incised scrolling floral designs beneath the glaze. The delicate body, graceful silhouette, and restrained ornamentation exemplify the refined craftsmanship of Qing Jingdezhen potters, whose technical mastery produced porcelain vessels of remarkable lightness and elegance.
Together, these four objects present an engaging survey of Qing ceramic aesthetics, encompassing monochrome glaze, imperial dragon imagery, landscape decoration, and elegant monochrome vase forms. Representing a variety of decorative techniques and artistic traditions, the group illustrates the remarkable versatility and enduring sophistication of Qing porcelain production over nearly two centuries.

清代瓷器四件

本组拍品包括四件清代瓷器,分别为乾隆时期褐釉盘、光绪时期青花龙纹大盘、青花山水大碗及一件青白釉暗刻缠枝花卉纹瓶,较为全面地展现了清代景德镇瓷器在单色釉、青花装饰及陈设器方面的艺术成就,也反映了十八世纪至十九世纪晚期中国制瓷工艺的发展特色。
其中最早的一件为乾隆时期褐釉盘。器物内外通施褐色单色釉,釉面呈现自然细腻的色泽变化,以含蓄沉稳的色彩取胜,充分体现了清代单色釉瓷器追求釉色之美的艺术理念。不同于以纹饰为主要装饰语言的青花瓷器,此类单色釉器物更强调釉层本身的层次变化与质感,对胎体、施釉及烧造工艺均有极高要求,是清代景德镇制瓷技术成熟的重要体现。
光绪时期青花龙纹大盘以青花绘五爪行龙穿行祥云之间,追逐火珠。龙纹气势雄健,云纹舒卷流畅,构图开阔而富有动感。龙作为中国传统文化中至高无上的祥瑞神兽,象征皇权、威严与祥瑞,因此龙纹瓷器始终是清代最具代表性的装饰题材之一。
另一件青花大碗内壁绘山水景致,远山、树木、水岸与楼阁相互映衬,外围饰缠枝花卉边饰,画意清雅宁静,充分体现了中国传统山水绘画移植于瓷器装饰的艺术特色,兼具实用功能与文人审美情趣。
前方青白釉瓶胎体轻薄秀雅,通体施柔和的青白釉,器身暗刻缠枝花卉纹,纹饰于釉下若隐若现,含蓄典雅。修长的器形与流畅的线条相结合,充分展现了景德镇工匠对于修胎、施釉与烧造工艺的精湛掌控,也体现了清代陈设瓷器简洁高雅的艺术风格。
本组四件瓷器涵盖单色釉、青花及青白釉等不同装饰技法,既有典雅沉稳的单色釉器,也有气势恢宏的龙纹装饰和富有文人意趣的山水纹饰,更有胎体轻薄、工艺精湛的青白釉瓶,较为完整地展现了清代景德镇瓷器丰富多样的艺术风貌,兼具欣赏与收藏价值。

Overall surface dust and grime on porcelain wares. Brown-glazed dish has abrasion on surface approximate 1/2" diameter. Guangxu blue and white charger has flea bites scattered along rim. Blue and white painted basin has discoloration along outside, chips and evidence of repair along rim, and small scattered indentations inside bowl likely from the time of manufacture.
