A Chinese carved pale green Xiu jade figure of a bixie.

The pale green Xiu jade finely carved as a recumbent bixie, the mythical beast depicted with its head raised and mouth open, revealing prominent fangs. Its face is detailed with bulging eyes, flared nostrils, swept-back ears, and a horn. The powerful body is carved with folded wings along the sides, its legs tucked beneath and its long tail terminating in a tightly curled tip. The softly polished stone displays natural brown and russet inclusions. Accompanied by a carved wood stand.

Chinese export period, second half of the 20th century.

中国创汇期岫玉雕辟邪瑞兽

以淡青绿色岫玉精雕伏卧状辟邪瑞兽。瑞兽昂首张口，露出獠牙；双目圆睁，鼻翼外张，双耳向后，额生一角。躯体浑厚有力，两侧雕收拢的羽翼，四肢屈伏于身下，长尾向上卷曲，尾端作涡旋状。玉料经柔和抛光，局部带有天然褐色及赭色纹理。附雕刻木座。

20世纪下半叶，创汇时期。

高4 1/2英寸；宽5 3/8英寸；深2英寸（11.4 × 13.7 × 5.1厘米）。
